2005/2006 AAU BASEBALL LEAGUE GUIDELINES
ADMINISTRATION:
The league shall designate a League Commissioner. The League Commissioner will be responsible for administering the league guidelines as set forth in this document. The AAU Baseball Handbook shall govern the league. No changes may be made to these guidelines with out the written approval of the AAU Nationals Baseball Executive Committee.
LEAGUE MAKE-UP:
The league shall consist of not less than 6 teams. The League Commissioner may expand the number of teams in the league prior to the beginning of league play, as necessary, provided sufficient facilities are available. All teams participating in the league shall participate in the District AAU Baseball Championship.
REQUIRED SCHEDULE:
Each team will be required to play every team in the league twice. Games may be played as single games or as double headers as determined by the League Commissioner. The AAU Baseball District Director prior to the first game must approve the league schedule. The schedule must be played over a minimum six-week period.
TOURNAMENT PLAY:
A tournament must be played at the end of the league play.
AAU SANCTION:
The local AAU Baseball District must properly sanction the league. The sanction can be obtained by completing the appropriate sanction form and submitting the required sanction fee to the registrar of the District.
ELIGIBILITY:
All teams and players shall meet the eligibility requirements as defined in the AAU Baseball Handbook. All players and coaches shall be current AAU members in good standing.
All teams shall provide the following registration information to the League Commissioner prior to the first league game:
- Team Roster
- Copies of current AAU cards for all players/coaches
- Copies of birth certificates for each player
- Coaches’ affidavit for each coach
FEES AND EXPENSES:
The League Commissioner shall be responsible for all fees and expenses associated with the administration of the league. AAU Baseball will not be responsible for any fees or expenses associated with league play.
UMPIRES:
The League Commissioner shall ensure competent umpires are used for all league games.
LEAGUE CHAMPION:
The league champion will be the team with the best won-loss record at the conclusion of league play. In the event of a tie the following tiebreaker will be used:
- Head to head against the tied team
- Total runs allowed between tied teams, if required;
- Total runs scored between tied teams, if required;
- Total runs allowed in all games played, if required;
- Total runs scored in all games played, if required;
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP:
The league champion will be awarded an at-large bid the AAU National Baseball Championship for the current year. The league champion will not be awarded the AAU National Baseball Championship bid until all game records and registration documents have been submitted and approved by the local AAU Baseball District Director.
RECORDKEEPING:
The League Commissioner and each team shall be responsible for keeping the appropriate records associated with their league play. The following records shall be maintained for each game:
- Game scores for each game
- Pitching record for each game signed by the opposing coach
The League Commissioner shall forward all game records and registration documents to the local AAU Baseball District Director at the conclusion of league play.
